Zinfandel from Lodi, California. Sam’s Club’s own branded wine. full bodied. Strong fruit notes with blackberry, oak and jam the nose. Very bold. Strong cedar in the mouth. Blackberry, oak, peppercorn and a little mocha in the mouth. Faint hint of vanilla. Jammy but not sweet. Fairly dry, with medium tannins. Fairly strong, lingering finish. 14.5% ABV. Price: $6.98.

Fruit-foward, almost jammy, red fruit, raisin with a fairly dry finish. Great with a burger, holds its own with a medium steak. Easy-drinking enough to just enjoy by itself on the back porch slightly cool. Just a very nice Zin, ridiculously good value. If anyone knows of a better Zin for $7 a bottle, I’d love to try it.
